When it said I felt something tighten in my chest,dark and hot I thought of anger of darkness it is hot inside of you and anger is mostly darkness.Anger can also be sadness like when he lost Stella Ruby brought up the topic about if she will die in this domain the same way Stella did.
I think that something hot and black and tightening in his chest is anger and sadness. The reason why I think that is when I get mad my chest is tightened. I get hot and a black thing mixes it together to make anger.
I think when Ivan said “ I feel some thing tighten in my chest something dark and hot.”I think that Ivan misses Stella because Ivan was the baby when stella was there. Ruby also asks a question “Ivan do you think that I will die some day in this domain like aunt Stella?” Then Ivan says “ I feel some thing tighten in my chest something dark and hot.” Then he says “ It's not a domain it's a cage.” That is why I think Ivan misses Stella.
Yes I do think that Ivan means what he says because yes he probably does feel tight and hot because he is angry that Stella died and he is sad and he doesn't want Ruby to die in the same cage as Stella he wants to save Ruby from dieing in the big top mall. And that is why he feels hot and tight.
